Security issues in focus at 46-nation forum NATO 24 May 2005
Senior decision-makers from NATO and partner countries including a number of Foreign Ministers will discuss key security issues at a high-level forum hosted by NATO partner country Sweden in Are, 24-25 May. The Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Security Forum will focus on the theme of “Managing Security - Our Common Challenge”. The informal meeting will allow Ministers and senior decision-makers from NATO’s 46 member and partner countries to discuss freely topical issues in Euro-Atlantic security. Four expert panels will discuss addressing Europe's unresolved conflicts, NATO’s partnerships with countries outside the Euro-Atlantic area, co-operation with NATO partner countries in Central Asia, and co-operation between international organisations.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Bulgarian Army Gen. Nikola Kolev said that Bulgaria will continue to lobby for Macedonia, Albania and Croatia to receive invitation for membership in NATO at the next meeting of the Alliance, announced BNR. |

Former NATO’s Secretary General Will Be Main Mediator for Kosovo |

UN’s Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has announced that Lord George Robertson, the former British Minister of Defense and former NATO’s Secretary General, will be the main negotiator in the talks between Belgrade and Pristine for Kosovo’s future statute, the Agency TANJUG has informed today. Lord George Robertson’s mandate as NATO’s Secretary General finished about an year ago and he went back to Britain where, presently, he is a Head of a company. |
